7 Super Bowl celebrations you can go to before the big game at SoFi (2024)

It’s been nearly 30 years since Los Angeles hosted the Super Bowl and despite the pandemic being an ongoing threat, since the big game is finally returning, the big parties are ready to kick off, too.

Super Bowl-related events are happening throughout the area and include everything from concerts with music superstars like Green Day and Miley Cyrus to partying and eating with celebrity chefs like Guy Fieri to hanging out with Lakers legend Shaquille O’Neal at his own carnival.

Even Disneyland is getting into the celebration and teaming up with ESPN to celebrate the game.

Here are six of the biggest Super Bowl parties, concerts and other events happening around Southern California to celebrate the Super Bowl at SoFi Stadium between the Rams and the Cincinnati Bengals on Feb. 13.

Super Bowl Experience presented by Lowe’s

When: Various hours on Feb. 5-Feb. 6 and Feb. 10-12

Where: Los Angeles Convention Center, 1201 S. Figueroa St., Los Angeles.

Cost: Tickets start at $20 for adults, children ages 12 and get in for free

Details: Chances are pretty high you don’t have the skills to survive in an NFL football game, but you can still experience what some of the pros go through and participate in interactive games, youth football clinics and take part in a 40-yard dash against NFL players on LED screens.

There’s also a lot to just look at, including exhibits such as the actual Lombardi Trophy to be awarded on Feb. 13, every Super Bowl-winning team’s championship rings, and the Hall of Fame busts of John Madden, Peyton Manning, LaDainian Tomlinson and others.

COVID-19 protocols: Masks are required as well as proof of vaccination or a negative test. There will be free testing offered in the Gilbert Lindsay Plaza located across Pico Boulevard from the Convention Center’s South Hall.

ESPN at the Disneyland Resort

When: Feb. 9-13

Where: Disneyland Resort, 1313 Disneyland Drive, Anaheim

Cost: Park admission for events inside Disney California Adventure, free to attend Downtown Disney events.

Details: Disneyland is teaming up with ESPN for a week-long celebration that will include pregame telecasts and events at Disney California Adventure and Downtown Disney.

Theme park ticket holders can see the ESPN Super Bowl broadcast center on the World of Color viewing area on Paradise Bay at Disney California Adventure from Feb. 9-13. That’s where the station will broadcast segments of its “SportsCenter,” “NFL Live,” “Postseason NFL Countdown” and “NFL Matchup” shows.

And just outside DCA, the Super Bowl Fan Experience will happen in Downtown Disney from 1-7 p.m. Feb. 10-13. It will include free games and giveaways happening in the esplanade between Tortilla Jo’s and Splitsville Luxury Lanes.

The Bud Light Super Bowl Music Fest

When: Feb. 10-12

Where: Crypto.com Arena, 1111 S. Figueroa St., Los Angeles

Cost: Tickets start at $50

Details: One of the biggest celebrations is taking place at Crypto.com Arena where the the Bud Light Super Bowl Music Fest will take over the arena Feb. 10-12.

The concert series with three days of music begins Feb. 10 with Halsey and Machine Gun Kelly headlining. On Feb. 11, Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani take the stage along with Mickey Guyton, the latter whom will perform the national anthem at the Super Bowl. And the musical weekend closes the day before the big game with performances by Green Day and Miley Cyrus.

“We always want to try and get as many genres as we can involved, we want high energy since obviously it’s the Super Bowl and people are there to have fun and we think we have the lineup to bring that all together,” said Don Renzulli, co-executive producer of the Bud Light event. [

The Bud Light festival made its debut at the 2019 Super Bowl at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta and returned for the next game in 2020 at the American Airlines Arena in Miami.

And since it was canceled last year due to COVID-19, Renzulli thinks fans will be extra celebratory this year when it comes to Super Bowl-related events.

“I think it’s going to be huge, I think there’s a lot of pent-up demand coming out of last year,” he said.

COVID-19 Protocols: Proof of full vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test within one day for an antigen test or two days for a PCR test prior to entry into an event. Home test results are not accepted.

Shaq’s Fun House

When: 8 p.m. Feb. 11

Where: Shrine Auditorium, 665 W. Jefferson Blvd., Los Angeles

Cost: Tickets start at $349

Details: This isn’t going to be your typical Super Bowl pre-party with the host handing out chips and dip, because when Lakers legend Shaquille O’Neal throws a party, you know it’s going to be a slam dunk.

Shaq’s Fun House Presented by FTX., will be a mix of a concert, a carnival and a circus at the Shrine Auditorium in L.A. on Feb. 11.

Lil Wayne, Diplo and Zedd are set as the headliners for the concert while Shaq will also perform as DJ Diesel.

And besides the music there’s a carnival with rides including a Ferris wheel, games, carnival food and circus performers. And with the price of admission comes food too from places like Roscoe’s House of Chicken and Waffles, Pink’s Hot Dogs, Diddy Riese Cookies, Meat District Butcher Crafted Premium Burgers and Papa John’s Pizza.

And since all this food needs to be washed down with something, there’s going to be a 6-hour open bar during the entire 21 and over party.

COVID-19 protocols: All attendees and staff are required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination and face coverings will be required when not actively eating and drinking, according to a press release and the event’s website.

Maxim Nights

When: 8 p.m. Feb. 11 and 12

Where: City Market, 1057 S. San Pedro St., Los Angeles

Cost: Tickets start at $950 on Feb. 11, $1,250 on Feb. 12

Details: DirectTV is teaming up with Maxim for back-to-back Super Bowl night shows in a 45,000 square foot open-air pavilion at City Market in Downtown Los Angeles.

On Friday, Feb. 11, Grammy-winning duo The Chainsmokers headline the MaximBet Music at the Market event. Also performing that night will be Lil Baby and Gunna.

The next day, the show is called DirectTV presents Maxim Electric Nights and will include performances by Grammy-winning producer Tiësto as well as Loud Luxury and DJ Vice. Rapper 50 Cent will host the party.

Besides the music there will be a retro arcade and food court.

COVID-19 protocols: Proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test within 72 hours required. Rapid testing will be available on-site.

The Party x Palm Tree Crew

When: 9 p.m. Feb. 12

Where: Century Park, 2000 Avenue of the Stars, Los Angeles

Cost: Tickets start at $750

Details: Sports Illustrated gets into the party game with The Party x Palm Tree Crew, an outdoor concert taking place the night before the game.

The night will be poppin’ thanks to performances by rapper Jack Harlow, whose breakout hit was the Billboard-charting “What’s Poppin.” He’s joined on the lineup by Kygo, Frank Walker, David Solomon and DJ Irie. There will also be live painting and a sports memorabilia auction.

COVID-19 protocols: Proof of negative COVID-19 test results within 48 hours of the event or proof of full COVID-19 vaccination will be required.

Players Tailgate

When: 11 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Feb. 13

Where: Hollywood Park Casino, 3883 W. Century Blvd., Inglewood

Details: Even if you don’t have Super Bowl tickets you can party right next to SoFi Stadium with the best known Guy in the food scene.

Celebrity chef Guy Fieri is hosting a pre-game tailgate party dubbed “The Players Tailgate,” on Feb. 13 on the parking lot of the Hollywood Park Casino, which is walking distance to SoFi.

The lot will be turned into a 50,000-square-foot outdoor party spot featuring food from Fieri, who will serve his fried chicken sandwiches, along with nine other well-known chefs serving their own specialties.

Also on the culinary lineup for the all-you-can-eat pregame party are chefs like Michael Voltaggio, a past winner Bravo’s “Top Chef” winner who will be serving baked crab and shrimp roll with Yuzu Koshu mayo and shrimp chips. And fellow “Top Chef” winner Brooke Williamson will dish out sweets in the Boozy Sundae Bar making things like handmade churros.

And to dance off the calories, DJ Ire will be spinning music from the stage.
